Polonnaruva

Royal Palace ... on top of this a wooden construction to 7. floor ....    Elephants carry the building in the bottom ....  ... midgets carry the building at the top!  Elephants and lions guard the entrance to this small temple.  Each one of these stone pillars are individually ornamented on all four sides - and the ornaments are almost all preserved to the present day.    Four entrances to this temple - with 4 Buddas - and 2 guards at every entrance!  One guard at each side of each entrance.               This should be the biggest all-brick pagoda in Sri Lanka. It was never painted white like most other pagodas were / are.
